Canna-Elysium Topical Salve Information

This product is for topical adult use only! (NOT Edible)
Please keep this product out of reach of children and pets.

Cannabis/Herbal topicals come in a variety of forms: Oils, lotions, creams, salves, and balms. These products work by delivering cannabinoids, phytonutrients and the terpenes found in the herbal plant, directly to receptors in the epidermis and dermis (not blood stream). Cannabis/Herbal topicals are great alternatives for people who want the topical benefit from the medicinal properties of the herb without ingesting or getting high.

Additionally, Essence Of Herbal Fusion does NOT use any THC/CBD in our products. We use raw cannabis plant (not dried herb) (inactive acidic cannabinoids - acidic raw form – non decarboxylated) in a cold herb/oil infusion. Without decarboxylation (heat), cannabis doesn’t contain THC/CBD. None of the cannabinoid acids found in raw cannabis flower are psychoactive. Prior to decarboxylating cannabis, the THC/CBD is an acid, THCA and CBDA, which has shown promising results with inflammation, which is often a source of pain. The only cannabis compound that’s known to produce psychoactive effects is THC (topicals do not produce the same effect).

Our herbal infusions also consist of numerous phytonutrients which comes naturally from the raw (not dried or heated) herbal plant, essential oils, butters, oils and waxes. The leaves of the cannabis plant are rich in antioxidants, polyphenols and antibiotics, along with cancer-reducing and anti-inflammatory compounds https://thecannabisindustry.org/member-blog-health-benefits-raw-cannabis/

What is the difference between topical and transdermal Products?

Essence Of Herbal Fusion's topical products do not penetrate to the blood stream. We do not sell any transdermal products.

In General:  If you’ve been aware of cannabis/herbal topicals for a while, you probably will have heard of topical cannabinoid/herbal products, such as muscle creams & balms, and possibly even been recommended to try them topically for pain and inflammation. However, you may not have heard of the slightly less common category of transdermal products, which covers products such as patches. These two types of product are very closely linked – in both cases, you apply product to your skin (non-edible), and after around ten minutes to half an hour, you begin to feel the effects of the product.

In fact there is only one major difference between topical and transdermal products – topical cannabinoids do not reach the bloodstream, while transdermal patches do. What this means is that topical products such as muscle balms will only be effective on the area in which they are applied. Topical products are absorbs through the skin, but not deeply enough to reach your bloodstream.

Gritty or Grainy Salve:

What are those little sand-like beads that sometimes form on your wonderful butter/oil/wax-rich products?

Those grains/specks are separated parts of molecules of your butter/oil/wax. The specks come from the fatty acids separating from the butter itself.

Temperature variation during shipping is usually the #1 cause of a grainy texture in salve, butters and balms. During hotter months, butters and balms can partially melt and then cool down too slowly, creating the perfect conditions for that grainy, gritty feeling. It can also happen if wherever you store your product, has a lot of variation in temperature.

The fatty acids solidify at different rates and start to crystallize. It's important to note that the graininess in salve, butters and balms doesn’t impact the quality or effectiveness of the product at all, it’s just not a very pleasant feel for skin products. It is a natural occurrence and does not indicate spoilage or contamination.

In traditional cosmetic labs, there are numerous synthetic/chemical based ingredients that, when added to a formula, prevent the grainy crystallizations from forming.

If you can't tolerate the graininess, you can simply melt the product back down to liquid form.

  • With clean dry hands and a utensil (small spatula), scrape product out of jar and into a small heat safe container (small glass measuring cup).
  • Take heat safe container and place in a self made small double boiler.
  • Heat until the product liquifies and then quickly pour back into jar.
  • Place jar in refrigerator for 1 hour. Then remove the jar and keep in a cool dark area.

I do not use ANY synthetic or chemical based ingredients in the products that I make.  Welcome to homemade, synthetic-free Topicals!!

Essential Oils and Other Ingredients:

We obtain the highest quality of therapeutic essential oils from around the world!

As you begin shopping for essential oils and products that contain essential oils, you’ll quickly realize that there are a lot of ways that each company will try to convince you that their oils are pure, safe, high-quality, and maybe even the only ones you should trust. While there are many reputable sources of essential oils out there, there’s also a lot of marketing to contend with.

First of all, there is no such thing as a grade of essential oil. So therapeutic grade, high grade, medical grade — these are all terms that anyone can use without having to prove it. Simply put, there is no recognized organization that certifies or grades essential oils. Essential oils are only either pure, or impure, and their purity can only be determined through a lab test called a Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry test, or GC/MS for short.

To confuse things even further, sometimes even reputable companies will use terms like therapeutic grade in response to competitive pressure. At Essence Of Herbal Fusion, we call our oils therapeutic quality. We avoid the word “grade” because we know it can be confusing and a bit misleading.

The importance of GC/MS testing:

GC/MS testing is the most reliable test of an essential oil’s purity. The test can isolate every component within an essential oil, as well as the exact amounts of each component. This assures that there are no diluents (not diluted or fake).

Once the test is complete, it takes an expert chemist who is familiar with the properties of essential oils to read the test report and determine if the essential oil has the correct properties and is free of any added or unexpected ingredients.

Most reputable essential oil companies run these tests, and transparent companies make the test reports available on their websites. If you require these reports, please email:  info@essenceofherbalfusion.com
